UCH Procures N10m "Cobalt Bomb" for Cancer Treatment

The Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan, Prof. Temitope Alonge, recently announced the hospital's purchase of a N10 million radiation machine for the treatment of cancer - a Cobalt 60 machine also known as the "cobalt bomb."

The machine earned its nickname "cobalt bomb" because it can bombard cancers deep in the body where previous therapies have been ineffective. In effect, it drops a bomb on cancer.

The Cobalt 60 radiation machine's also renowned for revolutionizing cancer treatment and saving the lives of millions of cancer patients around the world.

So cancer patients in Nigeria needing radiotherapy for treatment can heave a sigh of relief when this machine is delivered to Nigeria within the next few weeks.

  1. Wow, but it's hard to believe that radiotherapy machines are that cheap.
