Lawmakers ask Osun state health workers to return to work

Doctors and dentists in Osun state have been asked to suspend their strike.

The appeal to the striking workers was made by members of the Osun State House of Assembly during a meeting with the workers on Tuesday in Osogbo.

Speaker of the assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam, said the assembly would work hard to ensure the issues that prompted the strike were resolved. He also promised to take the issue up with the executive arm of government.

Dr Isiaka Adekunle, described the discussion between the union and the assembly as fruitful and an emergency meeting would be arranged to discuss the next course of action.

The striking workers had earlier issued a 7-day ultimatum to the government over their 8 months salary arrears.

Needless to say, the warning was futile.
