The senate has screened ministerial nominee, Dr. Okechukwu Eyinna Enelemah from Abia state.
Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah is a founder and Chief Executive Officer of African Capital Alliance (ACA). After qualifying as a medical doctor, Enelemah qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Nigeria, winning two national prizes in the qualifying examinations. He has a MBA with high distinction (Baker Scholar) from the Harvard Business School and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
During his screening, Dr. Enelemah vowed to work tirelessly with President Buhari for a new and better Nigeria. He also proffered solutions to several problems the nation is currently grappling with including unemployment and epileptic power supply.
He said for Nigeria to grow economically, efforts must be made to generate resources outside the oil sector and Nigerians made to pay taxes.
On the subject of youth unemployment, he said efforts must be made to create on-the-job training for graduates with emphasis on skill acquisition among youths.
The ministerial nominee advocated for a technology driven Nigeria and incentives to attract foreign investment.
He promised never to begin a political fight with his state governor when he is confirmed minister.
In addition, he said reviving the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) will require transparency and a collaborative effort from both the public and private sector will help to improve power supply in the country.
After 1hr 30mins of questioning, he was asked to take a bow and leave.
Could he be the next Minister of Health? Maybe.
But I think he'll most likely fill a financial position.
