Another school shooting leaves 10 dead

At least 10 are dead and 7 injured after a mass-shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, on Thursday. Police say the 20-year-old male shooter who was also a student at the school died in a shoot-out with police, who arrived the scene within minutes of receiving an emergency phone call.
Kortney Moore, 18, told the local News Review newspaper that she was in her writing class in Snyder Hall when a gunshot came through the window and struck her teacher in the head.

Moore said the gunman told people to get on the ground, then asked them to stand up and state their religion before he started shooting.

CNN reported that three handguns and an assault rifle belonging to him were recovered from the scene.

President Barack Obama, speaking just hours after the rampage, said the mass killing should move Americans to demand greater gun controls from elected officials.

"Somehow this has become routine," a visibly angry Obama said. "The reporting is routine. My response here, at this podium, ends up being routine. ...We've become numb to this."

Meanwhile, authorities are looking at social media posts by a person they believe may have been the shooter indicating the attack was likely pre-meditated.

With this new shooting, I think gun control protagonists would be insensitive if they don't shift grounds to increase gun safety.

It's time for these needless and senseless deaths to stop.- my heart goes out to the grieving families.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace!
