Professor Tekena Tamuno, Ex-VC Of UI Dies At 83

Professor Tekena Tamuno (28 January 1932 – 11 April 2015) was a Nigerian historian and former Vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan. He was also the President of the Board of Trustees of Bells University of Technology.

He died in Ibadan at 83 years.

The president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has commiserated with the family and Okrika community of Rivers state over the loss of a seasoned scholar and renowned historian.

The Nigerian nation, the President notes, particularly  owes the departed Professor a huge debt of gratitude for his immense efforts in helping to document the history of the country’s foundation, growth and development for posterity.

May his soul rest in peace!
