FRSC Commences Routine Liquor Tests On Drivers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Thursday flagged off its routine liquor test on drivers as part of the campaign against drunk driving at major parks in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to reducing the number of road crashes on the highways.

Speaking, the Corps Public Education Officer, Imoh Etuk ‎said the corps embarked on the campaign in order to test the level of liquor in the system of the drivers, adding that the corps intend carrying out the test continuously and simultaneously across the nation to ensure that people don't  drink and drive‎.

His words: "FRSC is saying that don't drink and drive, we are taking the campaign to all the parks. We have started with Jabi park, we are going to‎ Area 3 and we are moving round all the major parks in the Abuja municipal to ensure that people don't drink and drive.

`We are passing the message to all Nigerians that you don't need to drive and be intoxicated be you drive, so there can now be proper balance while driving," he noted.During the routine test, a driver at Jabi park, Mr. Remi Sunday who was on his way to Ibadan, Oyo State was prevented from embarking on the journey as he failed the test due to high level of liquor in his system.
