Attack An Albino In Malawi And Get Shot

The Inspector General of police in Malawi has ordered his officers' to safeguard the lives of albinos by every means possible including shooting on sight anyone seen attacking an albino.
"Shoot every criminal who is violent when caught red-handed abducting people with albinism," Reuters quoted the inspector as saying. "We cannot just watch while our friends with albinism are being killed like animals every day. We do not realize that these people are ruthless, have no mercy and therefore they need to be treated just like that."

In Malawi, albinos are targeted by ritualists and traditional healers, who use their body parts to make money charms/rituals. This belief that albinos body parts make potent charms is also believed in other African countries like Tanzania and Nigeria.

Albinism is a genetic condition which makes the body unable to produce or distribute melanin, a natural substance that gives colour to the hair, skin, and iris of the eye.

Albinos are very much to prone to sunburn, skin cancers as well as cataracts. If you know/are an albino, endeavour to always wear a sunglass and apply sunscreen when going out.
