Second blogger hacked to death in Bangladesh

On Monday, a Bangladeshi blogger, Washiqur Rahman, was brutally hacked to death by men wielding big knives just 500 yards from his home, in Dhaka.

Just a few weeks ago, Avijit Roy, a US based Bangladeshi blogger was also hacked to death by men believed to be Islamic militants.; his wife, Rafida Bonna was severely injured during the attack.

Similarly, in 2004 and 2013, two bloggers were killed in Bangladesh for demanding capital punishment for Islamist leaders convicted of war crimes during Bangladesh's war for independence.

Washiqur and Roy were atheist bloggers in a muslim-majority country and their deaths have sparked an outrage worldwide.

Media group Reporters Without Borders rated Bangladesh 146th among 180 countries in a ranking of press freedom last year.

It's really a terrible thing to take an innocent life.
