Ebola Survivor Nurse Nina Pham Sues Texas Health Resources

Nurse Nina was the first person on U.S soil to contract Ebola after treating the Liberian,Thomas Duncan in Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas.

Four months after recovering from Ebola, Nurse Nina is suing the parent company of the hospital, Texas Health Resources for violating her privacy by releasing without her consent videos and pictures of her when she was battling for survival and using her illness as a publicity tool to redeem the hospital's image when they had not done enough to protect her. She is worried about her health in the long-term after taking experimental drugs and her return to critical care nursing.

The lawsuit alleges that Nina did not get the training or the equipment she needed to properly protect herself when she was assigned to care for Duncan leaving her to use her discretion in deciding what personal protective equipment (PPE) to wear. In the process, she inadvertently exposed her neck and hair as she cared for Duncan. She also wore her scrubs home that day with the risk of taking home the virus.

Nina is seeking compensation but the hospital hopes to resolve the issue amicably.
