Chemical Fire at Port Metro Vancouver

A four alarm chemical fire is raging at Port Metro Vancouver with residents advised to stay indoors and close their windows as heavy billows of smoke fill the air in the downtown core.

Vancouver Coastal Health said trichloroisocyanuric acid, which can be used as an industrial disinfectant is burning at the container terminal.

Meanwhile, as firefighters tackle the fire, Vancouver Coastal Health officials are on-site to decide if additional evacuations are needed.
